Our Story
Earth Echo began with a conversation. A shared frustration, a spark of an idea, and a whole lot of determination to make small actions feel like they truly matter.
Neil's Story
Sally and I have our moments when we feel despondent about our everyday efforts to live sustainably. We literally feel like not even a drop in the ocean, maybe more like a speck of dust in a galaxy.
We turn off the tap while brushing our teeth, save washing-up water for the garden, buy recycled goods, don't flush after every use (yes, it's a thing), use refill shops, choose items with minimal packaging, follow a vegan lifestyle, and so much more. I'm even a in the UK. Yet sometimes it feels like all these actions make no real difference.
One of the biggest frustrations is understanding the real impact from our decisions. Trying to understand that isn't easy. There's an overwhelming amount of advice out there. Social media influencers, conflicting tips, and contradictory recommendations make it hard to know what really matters.
We wanted something clear, practical, and inspiring; something that would help us see the difference our small choices really make. Could avoiding one single-use plastic bottle or skipping an unnecessary clothing purchase really matter?
Neil wades in to clear fallen branches and debris, keeping the river flowing and the reserve's habitats healthy.
Laying hedgerows by hand the old way - living fences that shelter wildlife and stock for decades.
Converting organic food scraps into rich soil compost to sustain home-grown food self-sufficiency.
A Happy Accident
The idea of creating Earth Echo started back in 2024. Initially, we imagined an app, and as we explored options and contacted local companies, none of them replied. Maybe it was the part of our email saying we had no money and would have to crowdfund that put them off.
Then serendipity struck (now there's a posh word): I, as in Neil, am an author with my first novel due out in April 2027 (yes, it's of course an ecological thriller, and yes it's relevant to this story, promise) and I needed a decent headshot for the back cover. I went to a company called Poppy Productions.
Now, bear with me, I'm getting to the eventual serendipity bit. Sometime after that I saw Poppy Productions had updated their website with the help of Coded Vision Design. As you do, I liked the Instagram post and followed them.
They messaged me and after a few messages back and forth, and a video meeting, the project started rolling. I'll stop burbling now and pause for Coded Vision Design to add a few paragraphs about why they were so keen to support us with this vision. This is important because they offered to build the site for free; we simply needed to cover the monthly hosting and support.
Building With Purpose
When Neil first reached out, we knew straight away this was a project we wanted to be part of. At Coded Vision Design, we're big on homesteading ourselves and deeply care about reducing our carbon footprint. The mission behind Earth Echo resonated with us on a personal level, not just a professional one.
We offered to build the site for free because we genuinely believe in what Neil is trying to achieve. In a world full of greenwashing and empty promises, Earth Echo is the real deal: two people who live and breathe sustainability every single day, wanting to help others do the same.
For us, this isn't just another project in our portfolio. It's a cause we're proud to support, and we're committed to helping Earth Echo grow and reach as many people as possible.
Back to Neil
Hello, I'm back. Earth Echo is designed for everyone. Whether you're just starting to think about your environmental footprint or already trying to live consciously, our goal is to create a community where every small action counts.
What sets Earth Echo apart is simplicity and accessibility. We gather all the key areas you can control in one place and present them in ways that make sense. Rather than using overwhelming numbers, we aim to use relatable metrics, like Olympic swimming pools of water saved, to show impact in a tangible, understandable way.
We want every visitor to feel empowered and motivated. Together, we've built Earth Echo to be a celebration of each person's positive action, no matter how small.
Looking forward, we hope Earth Echo reaches thousands of people. Leaderboards and badges will make it fun and engaging, encouraging everyone to take meaningful steps for the environment. This isn't about living as a hermit in a yurt or everyone becoming vegan overnight. It's about recognising and celebrating the impact of small, achievable choices, like saying no to one plastic bag, and building momentum for real change, one action at a time.
We can't wait to see the community grow. Together, small actions can make a big difference.
“We didn't start Earth Echo to lecture anyone. We started it because we saw how much better life gets when you live in harmony with the world around you, and we wanted to make that easier for everyone.”
Neil, Founder of Earth Echo
One Planet, One Mission
Every action you log on Earth Echo contributes to a bigger picture. From conserving water at home to choosing plant-based meals, the small changes we all make ripple outward across the globe.

What We Stand For
These aren't just words on a page. They're chronological steps we take to grow in harmony with our homestead. Watch our values take root below.
We believe what we eat shapes the planet. Sally follows a fully vegan lifestyle, and together we champion plant-based choices as one of the most impactful ways to reduce your footprint.
